Friday Favorites #5 {Week of 6/12}

FridayFavorites || CohesiveFitness.comHappy Friday!

It’s that time of the week for a round up of a few of my favorite things from the past week. This has been a really weird week – as far as the weather goes – here in San Diego. It’s been hot, then cold, the muggy, then dry. My allergies are giving me a heck of a time and I have been battling a mild cold since Sunday. 🙁

I am happy it’s Friday, and hope to feel better over this weekend. Tomorrow my husband and I are going hiking with my best friend and her 2 year old son. It’s the same trail my husband and I hiked two weeks ago, so it will be a great workout.

Now, on to the favorites!

  • MyFitnessPal

friday favorites cohesivefitness.comI almost forgot about this app until recently. I am realizing more and more that it is my nutrition that is keeping me from reaching my ultimate fitness goals. I love working out, and find that to be easy, but I have trouble saying no to sugar.

I have been using the app the past few weeks to track my calories and sugar intake, and I have been going over on te recommended sugar almost daily. This is an area I can make significant improvements. For instance, I realized that the amount of creamer I put in my coffee has 20g of sugar! If I am trying to stay below 46g a day, it’s impossible to start my day with creamer. Instead I have been opting for Yogi Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy tea! {The tea could be listed here on it’s own too!}.

If a banana has 14g of sugar and I start my day with 34g of sugar out of 46g {combining a banana with coffee}, how would it be possible to not consume any more than 12g throughout the rest of the day? I am considering trying to detox from sugar. If anyone has any good suggestions for this I am open to hearing them. 🙂

  • Country Concerts & Tailgating

Friday Favorites - Brad Paisley - CohesiveFitness.comI am not sure if I like the concerts or the tailgating the best. It’s so fun to get together with friends and play CornHole and dance in a dirt parking lot. Being from San Diego, we don’t get these kinds of experiences often. I so enjoyed the Brad Paisley concert this past weekend. I am not a huge fan of his per-say but he put on a great show and definitely brought the house down here. I think I may be feeling sick as a bit of an aftermath from this show because it was weird weather this past Saturday as well.

  • Beachy Waves

Friday Favorites - Beach Waves - CohesiveFitness.comIn my post Wednesday, I shared how I only wash my hair twice a week. I also shared the schedule I follow when washing my hair. Last Friday, I decided to go with my natural hair texture and create these Beachy Waves to get ready for the concert. I think they came out great. I love my hair at a mid length/long bob, and think that my natural waves look good with a little added texture. I use the Not Your Mothers Sea Salt Spray to create more texture in my hair. {I love these products by the way, they are affordable and work well for me.}
