Welcome to the Dreaming Big {Mini Series}. I am honored to have you!

Dreaming Big {Mini Series} Part 1: Setting Your Intentions || www.CohesiveFitness.com
After I posted the Ultimate Guide to Dreaming Big, I received a lot of requests to go into more detail on how I let go of fear and made my dreams a reality. This series is created with a lot of love behind it. It’s now been just over a month since I said good-bye to corporate America {for good hopefully} and I feel lighter and more fulfilled than ever.

This series is not created specifically for people wanting to leave corporate, it’s for anyone who wants to chase their dreams and turn them into reality.

You may be feeling the following:

lost || apprehensive || scared || stuck || sick || tired || frustrated || worried

I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way forever. You CAN create change in your life, and become happier and more fulfilled. What I will be asking you to do through this mini series may make you uncomfortable in some ways, but if we stay in our comfort zone there is no room to grow! Let’s embark on this journey together starting with Part 1: Setting Your Intentions.Dreaming Big {Mini Series} Part 1: Setting Your Intentions || www.CohesiveFitness.com

Part 1: Setting Your Intentions

//What is an intention

For the purposes of this series an intention is a feeling or state of being. Typically a goal is something you wish to obtain such as a promotion or a vacation. An intention is how you wish to feelย either in the present or in the future. I believe that by setting intentions with the goal to achieve an emotional outcome, is much more powerful than a goal of obtaining a tangible item. Think hard about why it is that you want that promotion. How will it make you feel? Will it make you feel more relaxed because you will have more money to pay your bills, or perhaps you will be happier doing the work that the promotion offers? These are the things you are going to want to focus on as you work towards making your dreams a reality.

Think about it this way, if you got the promotion but ended up being absolutely miserable with the job, would you feel like your dreams came true because you made more money but were more stressed?

//Use a positive tone

As you are thinking about setting intentions for the next phase of your life, it’s important to make sure you keep a positive tone throughout. Negativity will only bring about more negativity. Instead of saying “I hate my job so my goal is to get a new job” say instead “I invite more positive energy in the workplace. My intention is to experience more joy in my daily work environment.”

Also, use present tense as you are setting intentions. Don’t think about what it is that you want in the future, but think about how you wish to feel and experience life at this exact moment. Are you angry at someone who hurt you in a relationship or friendship in this moment? Perhaps one of your intentions will be to find feelings of love and forgiveness for this person and let go of the anger now. This will help you find more clarity for the next steps in that relationship.

//Make sure they are fluid

You will become bored quickly if you focus on the exact same intention in the exact same way week after week. You need to continually challenge yourself and reevaluate your intentions. It’s interesting how quickly things can change. When I started working on my Pilates certification in February 2014, I knew I wanted to feel happy and free in what I did for a living. For me this meant eventually letting go of my corporate job. I figured in the beginning that I would quit my corporate job, but for me, leaving came by way of a lay off. And actually, by being laid off it allowed me some benefits I would not have received if I had quit. I couldn’t see this in the beginning, but as time went on I just kept evolving my intentions as new pieces of information became available.

Make sure you are open and you are listening. When you begin to work on your intentions, they may come about at first in ways you don’t recognize. Let’s go back to the promotion scenario. You may see getting that promotion to a better job as the answer to feeling happier, but perhaps your intentions become realized by way of a large raise for doing the job you are already doing. The promotion may not be the best path, it may become too stressful etc. Life has a funny way of working itself out if we are open to it and not resistant.

//Tune Into Your Happiest Self

What will life look like when you have achieved everything you desire? Typically, our tangible goals are just things that we think will provide us with the feelings we desire. That promotion will make you feel less stressed over money or meeting a new romantic interest will make you feel more loved. If you tune into the happiest version of your self, what do you find? It’s probably not a big mansion or fancy things, but just someone who is filled up to the brim with joy. Reflecting back on things that you have achieved helps you to really find what makes you tick. The worksheet for this course will help you dig in further.

You CAN find true happiness living under a rock. Making the transition away from a steady stable job, means that I am not sure where my next pay check is coming from. But I can say I have never been happier. That is what I focused on when I was setting my intentions. Just think long and hard to what will really make you happy, deep down. Tune into those feelings, and make that the center of your intentions. You WILL find happiness if you focus on the inside first.

//Let It Happen

It’s human nature to be impatient when we desire something so much. For instance, I hate online shopping because I love immediate gratification, maybe you can relate. ๐Ÿ™‚

The key for intentions is to set them, remind yourself of them, let them evolve, and then be patient. It took 18 months for my intentions to be realized. Probably more than that when I think about it, because I set me intentions a few months before pulling the trigger on my Pilates certification. I looked long and hard at what I wasn’t happy about in my life, and set my intentions to be happier in those areas. For me, becoming a freelancer and Pilates instructor ended up being the solution to my unhappiness. It took a long time and things are still changing, but I feel happier every day.

Let your wildest dreams come to you, they may come in a form that you weren’t even expecting. The important thing is to keep your intentions in the forefront of your life.

Conclusion

Intentions are a very powerful way to create the life you desire. If you stay focused on the way you hope to feel in the future, you will be able to create a path for success.
