Ten Takeaways from Blogfest 2015

I’m joining Tiffany, DebbieNatalie and Truitt Family Foods in sharing my Top 10 Takeaways from BlogFest 2015.

1. My new favorite yogurt is Siggi’s

Can you say, Pumpkin Spice Yogurt?!?! Yes, I got to try this and many other flavors because Siggi’s was a sponsor of Blogfest and Idea World. We got to meet Siggi himself (which is his nickname). This is Icelandic style skyr and it’s a thick, delicious and sinful snack! There are several things I love about Siggi’s. The biggest benefit is that each flavor has more protein than sugar! It takes a little getting used to if you’re used to overly processed and sweetened yogurts, but I promise it’s worth a try, and most grocery stores carry it! Try it now!

2. Networking is essential and fun

This is the part of Blogfest I was most terrified about, but it turned out to be a lot easier and enjoyable than I thought! I am a pretty shy person in unfamiliar situations, but I challenged myself to get out of my comfort zone and make new friends. If I hadn’t done this, I wouldn’t have met amazing and inspiring bloggers from all over the country. Here are a few of my new BBF’s {best blogging friends} that I think you should check out!

Brittany from My Own Balance

Kayla from Blondes Have More Run

3. My body achieved what my mind believed

On Friday at Blogfest I did 3 workouts in one day, including the HighX workout with Gabby Reece and a Zumba workout with founder Beto Perez. My body was screaming at me at first, but I made it through! I was definately sore for days after the conference ended, but I had so much fun. I am really impressed with how my body held up. I know I am getting stronger and healthier with each passing day and that makes me feel alive.

4. Anthony Robles is amazing

This man is a wrestling superstar, and amazing motivational speaker. He grew up with only one leg and built himself into a 3-time All-American and the 2011 NCAA National Champion in wrestling. His story is touching and heart warming. If you want to know more, you can check out his website and bio, but I will just leave you with this quote from his poem titled Unstoppable.

“Every soul who comes to earth with a
leg or two at birth must wrestle his
opponents knowing its not what is, but
what can be that measures worth. Make it hard, just make it possible and through
pain, I wont complain. My spirit is unconquerable. Fearless I will face each
foe for I know I am capable. I don’t care whats probable, through blood sweat and tears I am unstoppable.”

5. HighX is a great workout and is coming to 24 Hour Fitness

Gabby Reece is one of the most amazing human beings I have ever met. Her demeanor is so calm and zen. She had a ton of advice for how to balance a hectic life with “training for life” as she called it. She is not a competitive athlete anymore, but says that now she trains to create vitality in her life. Her HighX program started with her just giving classes to people who lived in her community, and is now coming to a 24 Hour Fitness near you soon! This workout made me feel powerful and I love that she teamed us up so we could motivate each other.

6. Check out Momentum Jewelry

I had never heard of this jewelry company before, but after winning one of their bracelets I am hooked. The materials used are super soft, and the messaging is beautiful! My bracelet reads “Earned Not Given” which sums up my weekend at Blogfest and Idea World perfectly!ten takeaways from blogfest

7. SEO – one of the best takeaways

If you are a blogger you cannot miss my post on Defining Your Personas. This is a big thing about SEO that I was completely unaware of before going into Blogfest. Marketing your blog on social media is great, but SEO can help expand your blog traffic more and more as time goes on, and who doesn’t want that? Make sure you gain some knowledge on SEO for your own blog.

8. You don’t need to blog for everyone…find your micro niche

Similarly to SEO, finding a micro niche will be very important moving forward. This is something I haven’t quite defined yet, but now that I am working on defining my personas, I will get closer to finding my niche. Start defining yours!

9. There is something for everyone who wants to work out

Seriously…the world makes it so easy for you to find a fitness activity that you enjoy. Flexline, Slackline, TRX, Pilates, Barre-less Fusion, Kaia Fit…you name it. Try all kinds of activities and find what gets your heart pumping!ten takeaways from blogfest

10. Love what you do

The biggest take away for me was to be authentic and love what you do. That has been my whole journey here with Cohesive Fitness, leaving my corporate job and teaching Pilates. If you don’t love what you do everyday, then you are not truly living.

  • Jen Rawson @ Pretty Little Gru

I definitely learned that my body was more capable than I give it credit for. 3 workouts a day was tough but although I was tired, I felt I could have kept going.

  • adailydoseoffit

Love this list! I can’t believe we didn’t get a picture together…so many memories, though. So that makes it somewhat okay. That HIGHX workout, though. So good!
