I started Cohesive Fitness as a way to connect and share my love of health and fitness with the world, or at least a tiny part of it. I have shared several adventures here, but my newest is mommyhood! On this blog you will find Pilates workouts that are great for everyone, but also pre and post natal appropriate, quick recipes for you and your family, and mindful minutes. 🙂

Cohesive Fitness to me means that we are working on our health and well being from all aspects. As a new mom, I have discovered the challenges of finding balance. Taking care of ourselves is the only way we will be able to care for our families. In my opinion, fitness isn’t just about eating right and exercising, it’s also about caring for your soul. If you aren’t happy and satisfied with where you are in life, the nutrition and fitness aspects are going to suffer. Cohesive Fitness is about coming together, supporting each other, and living our best lives! 🙂

You may also see glimpses of my super handsome husband, our son Brooks and our fur babies Luna (rescue pup) and Beau (dapper male feline).

My name is Stephanie Benton and I am a 30 year old Pilates Instructor living in San Diego, CA. I left a corporate job in marketing a few years ago to pursue my passion of becoming a Pilates instructor. I have enjoyed helping an array of clients achieve a higher level of fitness and happiness over the past several years.

I received a BA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach in 2009. GO BEACH. Unfortunately I never was able to make a career as a dancer, but being a Pilates instructor gives me the same feelings of joy. I love movement.

I am goofy, fun loving and fiercely loyal. I have realized over the past few years that my capacity to have empathy and compassion for others is a remarkable thing. I believe that is what helps propel me as a Pilates instructor, wife and mother.

I have had my share of struggles with my weight, as many of us do. When I graduated college I was at the healthiest I have ever been. I ended a really bad relationship where I was told I was fat constantly {I weighed a whopping 124 pounds}. This, combined with suddenly sitting at a desk 50 hours a week caused me to gain 30 pounds on my 5’4 frame. Now that I have just given birth two months ago at the time of this writing (12/22/16), I am at my heaviest weight. I know the struggles first hand to find time for myself to care for my body. My little guy needs a lot of attention, and he rewards me with giant smiles, but sometimes you just need a few moments to decompress. Being a mom truly is a 24/7 job, no lunch break. 😉
